Notice for Review Requests

I receive review requests weekly. However, my personal schedule is hectic and I no longer review actively. (I also manage another blog called The Toronto Cafe and Food Blog). I do read every request sent but I apologize in advance that I do not reply to them all.

If I do take on a request, I will forewarn that it may take some time before I can review it. I am now looking to review adult fiction and self-help books instead of young adult fiction because I have grown out of it. If you are to request a review for either adult fiction or self-help, I will more likely to give it a shot.

In the meantime, Stop, Drop, and Read! serves as an archive book review blog. When I have the time, I may post a review. Thank you for understanding.

Trailer Tuesday: The Tear Collector by Patrick Jones

Title: The Tear Collector
Author: Patrick Jones
Description: Fans of urban fantasy should prepare for a new kind of vampire, one that feeds off of tears instead of blood. Descended from an ancient line of creatures that gain their energy from human tears, Cassandra Gray depends on human sorrow to live. Only Cass has grown tired of living this life and wants to live like a human, especially now that she’s met someone worth fighting for.

I've read a lot of mixed reviews for this one. I think the concept would be better if it was not related to vampires, but a whole new species altogether. For those who have read it, what is your take on it?

This book sounds very original but from I've heard so far it doesn't come out as we expected. Nice trailer anyway. Thanks for posting, Diana ^^

I've heard good and bad about this book as well. The trailer is good tho. Thanks for sharing it - I hadn't seen it before.

Well, it depends what you mean by vampire. This is Twilight in bizarro world: the girl is the charasmatic creature, the boy is the awkward new-in-school human, and the question isn't will she die for him, but will she kill for his love. The creatures live on tears, not blood. You can read a reviews at www.tearcollector.com. Most recent one from School Library Journal said, "Cassandra is a complex character who readers will identify with as she struggles to understand who she really is, where her loyalties lie, and how to take control of her own destiny. Those looking for a new spin on the vampire story should find this one satisfying"
