Notice for Review Requests

I receive review requests weekly. However, my personal schedule is hectic and I no longer review actively. (I also manage another blog called The Toronto Cafe and Food Blog). I do read every request sent but I apologize in advance that I do not reply to them all.

If I do take on a request, I will forewarn that it may take some time before I can review it. I am now looking to review adult fiction and self-help books instead of young adult fiction because I have grown out of it. If you are to request a review for either adult fiction or self-help, I will more likely to give it a shot.

In the meantime, Stop, Drop, and Read! serves as an archive book review blog. When I have the time, I may post a review. Thank you for understanding.

My Monday Mailbox & Music Machine (Jan 18/10)

Yes, it seems like you have noticed yesterday's In My Mailbox is missing. That is because I decided to move it to Monday! But now you may be wondering, "What is Music Machine for?". Well lovely reader, I shall answer your question!

If you do not know, I am addicted to music. Specifically Korean music. So I thought I would share my love of Kpop to the world! It is much better that I combine the two features, so the features I have on Stop, Drop, and Read! would not take up the entire week that should have reviews instead. I'm not going to have only Kpop music (though for the majority of time I would) for every Music Machine because this feature will allow me to have other songs that I discover and like posted. Hopefully you guys can discover your own love for Kpop and if not, at least get to enjoy some catchy songs! Now onward!

My Zombie Valentine by Katie MacAlister, Angie Fox, Marianne Mancusi, and Lisa Cach

Lol, I think it has been awhile since I have received any YA novels to review, huh? And I think it may be the last time in a long time because I have to work hard in school if I want to get into university at this point. @@ (My parents are demanding me to quit my blog altogether but I'm trying my best to sneak in time for it when I have the chance!)

Music Machine

Title: 외톨이야 (I'm a Loner)
Artist/Band: CNBlue
Language: Korean
My Thoughts: I just discovered this song and band a couple of days ago and I am completely addicted! CNBlue is another band that just recently debuted in South Korea. (If you are a Kpop addict, you will know that the past few months a hundred of different bands are debuting out of nowhere).

What I love about this song is that it is quite contemporary compared to what the Kpop sector usually have. It reminds me a lot of Maroon 5! What is also unique about this band is that the members are able to play instruments! Most of the time, Kpop bands are all about dancing and singing so instruments are generally rare. Totally looking forward to more of CNBlue!

Really looking forward to discovering more of Kpop. CNBlue sounds really good. Thanks for sharing it with us.

LOLOLOLOL It's the secondary dude from You're Beautiful. I love how he's the 'emotional' one. *AMUSED*

Huh, I just realized this was my first CNBlue song. You'd think after all those hours I devoted to the You're Beautiful OST, I would have seeked out CNBlue music...

(Er, I'm hoping you know what I mean when I'm talking about You're Beautiful, because I'm not sure if this comment makes sense if you didn't...)

@Cindy: :D

@Ah Yuan: Lawl! I actually haven't gotten a chance to watch You're Beautiful yet though I have heard of it. But isn't like the cast all from AN.JELL or something? I actually haven't heard any songs from AN.Jell though.

It's been awhile since I've seen any Kdramas. Boys Before Flowers was ehhh and I had to stop when the vacation episode came around. @@ (Lol, hope you know what I'm talking about!)

Great books, I'm especially jealous of The Seven Rays! Happy reading!

@Diana,

OMG You know what I was talking about. YAYNESS!! *-*

Well, it'd be more correct to say that A.N.Jell is from the cast, since that was a made-up boyband for the drama, exclusively. But the 'Emotional' dude from the MV played a big role in You're Beautiful and was the lead guitar in A.N.Jell. =D

As for AN.Jell music, I love it, but um, this is 99.999999% possibly influenced by the fact that I'm in love with the show it's from so don't take my word for it, lol.

BBF was your last kdrama?! What a sad one to end with. (I say this because I hate BBF and ALL THAT IT STANDS FOR. *bricked by fans*) You should rectify this by watching awesome kdrama. Like You're Beautiful for instance. Not that I'm pressuring you or anything, lol. 8D <-- gets too excited when I get a chance to talk about You're Beautiful with someone.

Out of curiousity, have you ever watched any other dramas. I'm kinda thinking that you may have tried jdramas (due to the manga reviews) and I heart jdramas and would love to talk about any potential jdramas we may have possibly mutually watched. 8D

@Ah Yuan: Ahh xD

Yea, I believe BBF is my last kdrama. And my last last Asian drama I watched was Fated to Love You. I believe. Px Maybe I tried something out after but didn't like but can't remember. xD

Honestly, the only Jdrama I've watched and absolutely love is Hana Yori Dango. That series was addicting! I watched through all first and second season and believe it or not, the only Asian drama I truly finished watching. There were others that came close like Hong Gil Dong, Witch Yoo-Hee and Soulmate but I never come to finishing them.

I was pretty much disappointed with BBF ver. D: The Taiwanese wasn't so great either. But man, I love Lee Min Ho! :DDD

@Diana,

lol I don't like any of the BBF versions, nor the anime, nor the manga (pleasedon'thurtme). It's one of those series wherein the very premise makes my eye twitch.

Fated to Love You is that taiwanese pregnancy show, right? Eh, dunno whether to watch it. Taiwanese shows have worrying levels in their 'quality', from my experience...

Huh, now that I think of it, I can't think of any dramas adapted from manga that I liked, unless we count Nodame Cantabile. Interesting...

lol I tried Witch Yoo-Hee for like... 2 episodes? And ran away screaming. That leading girl is NOT an actress. I think a log of wood would have been more appropriate. Haven't given Soulmate or Hong Gil Dong a chance, but I'm consideeeeeeeering HGD because my friend is in love with that show. Plus, Jang Geun Suk. ♥

=D Okay, will officially shut up about dramas now. 8D

I'm not a big fan of HYD manga either. Too long and I can't stand the art. Never tried the anime and likely won't.

Yea, I don't watch Taiwanese dramas either. I tried Hana Kimi but it was a fail. I looked into some other ones but I couldn't stand them. Fated to Love You kept my attention pretty well though.

Hong Gil Dong is gold I say. :D Just have to finish it for once. xD

Nuu! >3<~ Do you know any really good Kmovies that are recent? I generally never keep up with series so I stick to movies. xD

The only taiwanese shows I ever loved were Bump Off Lover and Black & White. (okay no, I have some shows that I liked as well but er, they aren't any good and really just guilty pleasure watches...)

If you liked HGD then you HAVE TO HAVE TO watch You're Beautiful!! They both have the same writers!! [/pimp]

Hmm, recent kmovies? Haven't been very up to date with kdramas... Last one I watched was Rough Cut. 8D (Others I liked off the top of my head: King and the Clown, Il Mare) That was fun. OH BUT I'm really reallyyyyy excited about an upcoming kmovie called Into the White Night. Eeeeeeeeeeee~

Diana Dang said...

Lawl! Kay, I'll look into You're Beautiful. But it's not a sad drama is it? D: I really hate watching those tragic dramas with like cancer or death in the family and stuff. Px

I've never heard of Il Mare. :O I tried The King and the Clown but not my type of movie. Px White Night? I'll look that up. :D

yuan said...

LOL You're Beautiful is ANYTHING but sad. Sooooooooo funny and soooooo cute. It's like, brain candy. ♥

Il Mare is a kinda slice-of-life romance, very sweet. =D
